Many people think it is amazing that our adoption story spans a decade. I think most adoption stories are pretty amazing. I would like to begin posting a series of articles that tell your story. Whether you had a long wait or a short wait…or if you are still waiting, you have a story to share.
I would also like to include Adult Adoptees who may have a waiting story of their own they would like to share, such as waiting for a birth parent reunion, waiting for a homeland visit, or waiting for something else.
So, here’s what to do:
- Write your story in 500 words or less.
- Title it “Waiting for_________” (and fill in that blank with a word of your choice, e.g. a princess, Charlie, a family, a baby, a miracle, a rainbow, …). And if you want to tell a family member’s story, it might be waiting for a grandchild or niece/nephew.
- Include 1 or 2 pictures.
- Include your name and a short bio. You may also include a link to your blog, Facebook page, or Twitter account.
- Within your story please include how long you waited (or are waiting), the challenges you faced or are facing, and what encouraged (or encourages) you most during the wait.
Please send your submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is no deadline, but if I begin receiving too many, I may not post all of the stories. All posted stories will be edited for grammar and spelling and some parts may be removed or made bold/italicized for emphasis.
I am excited about seeing your stories!
