Waiting on God–Our Journey of Adoption…an adoption blog about the book, paper pregnancies, & persisting in prayer.

Author holding a friend’s newborn baby girl at Christmastime, midway through the decade-long journey.
Holidays (particularly Christmas) can be some of the most difficult days during the “paper pregnancy” or waiting stage of adoption. You hope…you pray…you wait for a miracle. Songs of kids waiting for a home for Christmas (as beautiful as the songs are) often bring tears to the eyes of the parents waiting.
“Many ladies prayed for us that day, yet Mother’s Day, my birthday, and Christmas all passed without further direction from God and without a little girl. As each holiday approached, my heart and mind imagined the various ways God might bring a daughter into our lives in time for that holiday. God’s timing, God’s way—I knew this truth, though it did not make it any easier to wait….Not only did Christmas not bring a little girl into our family, it brought an unwelcome visitor, death.” –an excerpt from Nine Year Pregnancy.
