Worth it All!

On the Adoptive Families “30 Ways to Celebrate National Adoption Month 2011” calendar, they suggested “Make an effort to
help someone who is considering adoption. If you’re a parent, tell them about the highs, the lows, the unforgettable moments. Tell them why you’d do it all over again!”cross, waterfall, waterfall with cross, girl by waterfall, girl praying, adoption, hope, nature, water garden

In my book Nine Year Pregnancy: Waiting on God–Our Journey of Adoption, I talk about this very concept. I share the trials in bonding, and I discuss the stages it can take to reaching that point where we were able to say “Yes, she was worth it all! Yes, I would do it all over again to have our precious daughter!” I also talk about the early days/weeks/months when I wondered if we had done the right thing.

If you have recently brought home a child, particularly one that is two or older, hang in there! Keep on giving love . . . even on those days when you don’t feel “in love” or those days it doesn’t seem like your child loves you.

Love reminds me of the verse that says:
“Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.”

Ecclesiastes 11:1 New International Version (©1984)

Keep on pouring love into your child . . . for after many days that love will come back to you!

This is wise advice. Advice which needs to keep being shared – over and over and over again. I’m excited for the release of your book and happy you managed to find my blog. Blessings to you!
