In honor of World Poetry Day, here is a poem from “Nine Year Pregnancy.”

A dream lost is to die a littlewaiting, grief, loss, depression, hope, faith

a little more, a little less

a brittle, bitter ending

descending upon my heart,

tearing at my soul,

wearing at my ability

to go on.

Until a song

rises forth singing of

newer visions, undenied hope

not erasing or replacing

the aching of my deepest part

but causing my own soul to carry on.
