Adoptive Fathers

With Father’s Day approaching, I thought I’d share a couple of excerpts regarding how adoption day was viewed by my husband.

Excerpts from Nine Year Pregnancy:

Tears came to James’ eyes when he reflected on the life Jade had been living; it struck him that everything she owned as a six-year-old girl we now carried away in a small plastic grocery bag. –p. 75 *******************************************************************

Jade’s appreciation for small things amazed James. He later wrote a friend the following:

“As children, we were never thrilled about getting new clothes for a present, those were just basic necessities that we expected. Not so with Jade: every pair of socks, every pair of panties, cheap sunglasses, tennis shoes and new outfits were all received with great jubilation.

She was so proud of her new tennis shoes that we could hardly take them off her feet for the first three days. I hope she will continue to be thankful for all God is blessing her with. Perhaps I can learn from her to appreciate even the simple and common things in life like a toothbrush, a comb, socks and a pillow.”  pp 87-88
